A CONVERSATION AT LINCOLN COTTAGE
What is “the American idea?” How do prospective Presidential candidates understand “American exceptionalism” and the distinctive qualities that define this country and the American people? And what is their vision for our Nation’s continuing experiment in democracy?
On July 14, 2015, the Jack Kemp Foundation hosted the first in a series of fireside chats with national leaders at historic Lincoln Cottage in Washington DC, centered on these fundamental questions. Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) was the featured guest in an hour-long conversation led by former Senator Joe Lieberman and Kemp Foundation president Jimmy Kemp.
Jack Kemp believed in the power of ideas to transcend party lines and change the world. These conversations with notable leaders at Lincoln Cottage, where President Lincoln penned the Emancipation Proclamation, are intended to honor and extend that legacy.
